What should you consider when buying a pool cover?

Purchasing a pool enclosure requires careful planning to ensure a smooth process from installation to use. Various structural and organizational aspects must be considered before, during, and after installation to ensure the enclosure is installed safely and durably. The following are the most important points to consider during purchase and installation.

  • Before Installation
Access to the installation site must be ensured so that the pre-assembled roof elements can be brought to the pool. A level installation surface must be created along the long and short sides of the pool. If this is not the case, the ground rail must be supported at certain points during installation. The resulting gaps must be closed on site after installation. This sealing is not included in the installation costs. A slight slope away from the pool is generally recommended along the long sides. If there is a slope towards the pool, rainwater flowing into the rails can penetrate into the enclosure or into the pool. There must be no slope away from the pool at the ends of the pool and in the area of the track extension; otherwise, the track rails must be supported. The track rail subfloor must be level, load-bearing, frost-proof, and, above all, suitable for anchoring, meaning that the long and short sides must be firmly mortared with stone slabs, tiles, or concrete. A concrete strip foundation is generally recommended. For installation on wood, the material should be weather-resistant. Installation requires an electrical connection, a water connection, and sufficient working space around the pool.
  • Installation
Depending on the access to the installation site and the size and design of the roof, the on-site assistance may be required to bring the elements into the pool. This will be specified in the order confirmation. Installation is carried out by VÖROKA specialists and normally takes one day. For special designs, the installation time may be longer depending on the size and complexity of the pool. If the subfloor is uneven, the track rails must be supported at certain points. Building elements, walls, etc., adjacent to the roof must be structurally sound and suitable for the planned installation and use (moisture, etc.). The purchaser is responsible for verifying this. A solid wall structure is required for the installation of the anchors.
  • After Installation
Immediately after installation, the purchaser/customer must inspect the roof. Any damage or defects to the roof must be recorded at this time. Drilling is required during the installation of the pool enclosure. This can generate drilling dust and aluminum shavings. Despite all due care, it is not possible to completely remove these. In particular, shavings that fall into the pool cannot be removed. Therefore, the pool floor should be vacuumed before the next use. This will remove coarse dirt generated during installation. However, a complete cleaning is not possible.
